Visegrad Four festival in Budapest

A festival presenting the traditions, culture and gastronomy of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries will be held in Budapest on October 8, the deputy head of the Hungarian Tourism Agency said on Friday.

The aim is to offer the broad public a “community” event that illustrates the significance of cooperation among the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, as members of the group, Péter Princzinger told M1.

Hungary will host the festival at Várkert Bazár as current V4 president, he said.

Antal Novotny, who is in charge of the festival’s gastronomy programme, noted that the public will have a chance to taste the Polish sour rye soup “zurek”, the Czech bread dumplings “knodel” and the Slovak potato dumplings “strapachka” among national specialties.

A common component of the four countries’ gastronomy is sour cabbage, he said.
