Szijjarto: Country's success depends on switchover to digital economy

Szijjarto announced plans by the Photel Group to set up a digital service centre in Szekszard, in southern Hungary, which will create 130 jobs and the government will offer 378 million forints (EUR 1.2m) to support the 946-million-forint project. The investment demonstrates that Hungary has entered “a new dimension in economic development”, with an increasing number of Hungarian medium-sized companies becoming competitive on international markets, he added.

Hungary’s government is preparing the country for the digital era with its plan to make broadband internet available to all households and companies by 2018. The reduction of VAT on internet services is also part of this process, Szijjarto said.
